Make sure you check out the full magazine at www.KamoyMagazine.com I am truly honored to be featured in such an amazing publication that is dedicated to celebrating natural beauty…

I am sharing the page with the lovely Teisha Lynee…

Interview:

Kamoy Magazine: What does beauty mean to you?
Wahidah Fowler: Although they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, beauty has to come from within. The term “beauty” is very subjective; depending on an individual’s ideology they will interpret it in their own manner. I honestly believe that there is beauty in everyone, but some people exude it more than others. The Western world has impacted the globe dramatically when it comes to the perception of beauty. To me, beauty is diverse, unique and cannot be categorized.

Kamoy Magazine: How long have you been growing your locs?

Wahidah Fowler: My hair has been locked all of my life.

Kamoy Magazine:
Many people grow there loc’s for fashion, what are your reasons for going natural?

Wahidah Fowler: My parents locked my hair due to personal reasons, not because of fashion. My mother is very cultural and my father is Rastafarian. They instilled in me love for the characteristics that make up my ethnicity and heritage. It was only until I turned 12 did I recall locs becoming extremely popular. I have kept my hair locked because it is beyond a fashion statement. Locks are a reflection of my pride in my ethnicity. It is also a reflection of strength and beauty to me.
